Day two I was trying really hard to keep up with the blog. I wanted to keep my fabulous friends and customers up to date on the amazing adventure I was on. I knew everyone was anxious to see the new styles, and I wanted to share my experience.
I could breathe, and when I took a breath it was rainbows and glitter! I truly needed this vacation.
So, the fact that I did not post the remaining few days of my trip did not escape me, but the guilt didn’t overwhelm me either. I had a choice between blogging and sleep, because that was all the free time I had. So, sleep won out. In the week that I was gone I got a total of 16 hours of sleep. That is not an exaggeration, or a rough estimate. That is literally the amount of time I had to catch a quick nap. My room at the hotel was used almost exclusively as a closet, and little else.
Part of that I’m going to blame on my incredible roommate. I LOVED her! Trudee, that’s you girl! God was watching over me, I truly believe it. Part of the story that I didn’t tell you earlier was how much I was scrambling to get my funds together for my trip. The last few months with Buddy has made it harder to do business, and hubby’s constant travel does little to help that situation out. Add in summer being one of the toughest retail months and I was panicked! I didn’t know how I was going to cover the cost of the trip. Trudee posted right before it was time to go that she had an opening for a roommate, so I canceled my hotel room and stayed with her. I played photographer, we stayed up too late talking, and she was a great partner in crime.
So, our first day of training was intense. Trudee and I got up super early so that we could hit the supply shop. There were a few things that we hadn’t managed to snag the day before that we were hoping to get our hands on. It was a much smoother experience (nobody went to jail over leggings on day two!) and we each left with an armful of things to take home to the family. Then training commenced. I don’t think I’ve ever written so fast in my life. LuLaRoe lined up some of the best consultants in the company to provide fast paced training covering every topic imaginable. These ladies and gents did a wonderful job!
Sadly, after lunch I gave out! I had a migraine that was so bad I couldn’t see 5 feet in front of my face. I downed some water, took some meds, and tossed and turned for a few hours. Thankfully the meds kicked in, because our team dinner was that night. All of the life was sucked out of me, but I pulled it together. I’m so glad that I did because the steak that we had absolutely melted in my mouth. It tasted like butter, herbs, and beast. I didn’t even have to chew. I would have sat at that table forever, only to keep eating that steak. We also enjoyed some country music next door for a few hours before we headed back to the hotel.
While we were out we heard rumors that Justin Timberlake would be performing for us. I jumped on Trudee’s bed as soon as I got into the room to wake her up! I’m not sure how much she appreciated that, but we sat up and chatted for awhile before we finally passed out.
Day four was our final official day of convention, but still two days before I’d head home. I have no idea what possessed us to get up early on Saturday, but we did, only to JUST make it to general session on time. Several from our team overslept, but we made it, and thats when they announced the new arrivals! Gigi, Sariah, TC2, and Shirley (My favorite) are on their way to my boutique, and we have two jackets and a long sleeve tee that’s been added as well! (Too many names, they elude me at the moment – especially since Cono just fell out of bed!)
They announced that we’d be able to order that afternoon, and I took a big risk and spent the rest of my trip money to place an order of our new product. I knew that meant I’d have to be careful, but I felt like it was a worthy investment. I hope you guys do too!
After lunch I explored the LuLaRoe experience, as well as watched the fashion show. It’s amazing how well our pieces work together, and it really pushed me outside of my own comfort zone when it comes to pattern mixing. I can’t wait to do my styling session/photos with my guests when the new box comes in! I’m really going to push my ladies outside of their comfort zones!
That night we had our private concert with Katy Perry! She was intense, and it was amazing. I’m so thankful to our company for providing us with such an incredible opportunity, and for making me the cool mom! (Dilly was seriously jealous!) Trudee was incredible, and did something I could never do! She went up and claimed us wristbands for the field at the concert by telling Jordan (one of the Home Office Guys and a minor celebrity to consultants) how she made lollipop moments for people! You could only get the up front tickets by having a wristband. I would have been way to shy to do that!
I was so sad to say goodbye to her the next morning, and seeing the convention center take down all of our VISION stuff made me realize that it was really almost over. As much as I missed my hubby and kids, I was having so much fun, and I didn’t want it to end. Thankfully, my friend and sponsor Court and I had purchased tickets to DISNEYLAND! Being from So Cal, Court was a Disney expert, and she dragged me onto rides I never would have done on my own. Space Mountain shook me to my core a little. I probably should have done a smaller ride first… seeing as how it had been over 10 years since I had been on a roller coaster!
California Adventure was brand new to me, and I LOVED IT. I love the big open spaces, the carnival like atmosphere, there just wasn’t enough time to take in the whole park. It probably didn’t help that we were running back and forth between the two like a couple of fools!
As promised, I got my Tiara! After a year with the company, I feel like I deserve it! LuLaRoe is a lot of work, but it’s also a lot of fun. It gives me a sense of accomplishment that few other things did. Our team dinner was at an amazing restaurant in the parks, and it was a wonderful time of bonding, and refreshing some of the things that we learned. Disney was the perfect place to do it!
My last day in California was a bit rushed. We did Downtown Disney to get the kiddos their treats for being good for Daddy, and then we hit up Shopping Island. There we found Lush (because it’s what we do) and had dinner at California Pizza Kitchen… because where else do you eat in California? Court managed to get me to the airport just in time to catch the red-eye back. I got home just in time for my hubby to walk out the door on one of his adventures. Nano curled up in my lap just in time to finally get to sleep with mommy again. <3
